an airvalve opens to allow the pressurized air from the tank to fill the airbags and closes to stop the air flow.

Valves do just as Christopher says.... & they are also a big part of the system.
Bigger/faster valves meens you will move quicker... but speed is not what everone is looking for...

to get all the moves down, you will run 8 valves. 4 for lifting, & 4 for dumping
Lifiting will be the valves between the Air Tank & the bags. & the Dumping will be the valves that do just that Dump the air from the bags. also it does Depends if you are running dual port or single port bags, how the plumbing will be done...

Hope this helps
