is your kit for a 65 impala a direct bolt on kit?

does it require any cutting to fit?

It is almost a direct bolt-on, the upper shock bracket must be welded to the frame. It' s no big deal though. The rest of the install is just a matter putting bolts through holes. There should not be any trimming required, but always check clearance around the bag through complete suspension travel.
