I have a question for the Air Ride experts. Why are the Big Red Max valves advertised as 1/2" when they are only 3/8" ? I payed around $3500 for a system that was advertised as 1/2" . Lines, valves, etc. I was at a show this weekend and there was a car that was extremely fast. So fast indeed that he was able to get a tire off the ground. Thinking he surely had to have 3/4" or 1" valves and lines, I asked him. He said that he had 1/2" valves and lines. I told him I had the same but mine was much slower than his and wondered why. The first question out of his mouth was " Do you have Air Ride?" I said yes why? He then reveiled the truth. He had me look at my valves and sure enough right on the side of the valve it said 3/8" . Needless to say I was pissed. I spent that much money on a 1/2" system only to find out it is not truely 1/2" I will now be purchasing true 1/2" valves from another company and getting rid of the 3/8" . Perhaps you should reword your advertisements so that noone gets confused and spends money on a false advertisement.

I' m assuming that the system you have is the Big Red Max (ARC4800e). If so, then the kit was advertised to have 1/2" air line and Big Red valves. The Big Red valves have always been advertised to be 3/8" npt ports. (see attached link, in the
yellow box).

Sorry for any confusion, but the Big Reds have never been advertised as having 1/2" ports.

There is no reason to use 1/2" valves with 1/2" airline. The airline is measured by O.D. and the valves are measured by I.D. Therefore 1/2" airline is optimized with a 3/8" valve. I would never suggest hopping with any vehicle you plan on driving it will ruin your shock or struts. Your buddy that is hopping is guaranteed to be replacing his stuts after topping them out all the time. And being that your replacement struts are over $200 a piece....do you really want to hop??? The system you have purchased is designed to have a very quick rise time with great ride quality and performance characteristics. If anyone wants to hop I would suggest using cylinders, but I wouldn' t suggest putting them on a vehicle you plan on driving.

After reading the link I see the confusion was on my part. I don' t want to hop my car. The guy that was hopping had to really try to get it off the ground. I would just like something that is a little faster.

If you have any elbow fittings in the system swap them out for straights. That will help speed it up a little. You have two 5 gal. tanks right? You can also mount the valves seperately closer to each bag to help speed it up.

every thing darren said is true, there are faster setups out there with larger dia. however they lack in quality and overall ride. people buy air ride who want a dependable quality setup. people who want to hop their cars want the cheapest fastest product out there and don' t care about damage as it tears the car up anyhow.
