I' m just wondering what the standard is for installing the top mounting plate between the rubber bushings. Seems once the bottom bushing is on, the mounting plate is put on, and the top bushing is put on, and the washer ontop of that, the threads are covered thus not allowing the top nut to engage at all...even with the weight of the car on it. The mount I' m talking about is for a PT Cruiser. It seems the threads are about 1/4" to a 1/2" short from allowing the top nut to engage the threads.

The bushing have a step in them that should fit into the hole in the aluminum cup. That should give you a little more room.

I have made sure the steps in both bushings are in the aluminum cup, but the problem persists. The post out of the top of the strut still seems about 1/4" short. Am I the only one who has had this problem. I am aware that the mounting plate used to not come included, and you would have to use the stock mounting plate off of the stock struts. Anything else that might be of help?

Try putting the nut on without the top washer first to seat everything. Then pull it back off and put the washer on.
