My documents that were sent to me by Airride says that " A minimum of 2" of ground clearance must be maintained when the airspring is completely deflated. I' m just wondering why. I' m sure the documents for the road grater doesn' t specify the same. Just wondering. Thanks in advance for you time.

It' s a safty thing. I have lost a air line on my rear bags and was lucky that I had build a bump stop so I didn' t drag a hole in my gas tank. Sparks and gas work great. I was able to pull over and get to a safe place to fix it with out any damage to my truck.
It' s a good thing to plan for....
