I did a quick search and turned up nothing. So maybe someone here can help. I have a catalog for Airride and am wanting a system for my 2000 silverado. Air Ride recommends Shockwave v3.0 for the front and AirBar in the rear. My question is this.
What else do I need to get to do this right?
A compressor, gauges. The catalog isn' t very clear in this area. I would like to be able to adjust the front separately from the back, when I want. The overall goal for the truck is a 2/4 drop. If you can provide part numbers or brand names when you make your suggestions it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jake

The Shockwave works well up front but for the money you could stick another $100 in it and get the CoolRide kit with the upper and lower StrongArms. http://www.ridetech.com/productinfo/controlarms_trucks.asp
On the compressor kit I would recommend a 4 way kit. Controlling each air spring individually will eliminate air transfer and improve handling.

You would be looking at a total cost of around $3700.

I also have a 2000 Silverado and just bought the Cool ride with upper and lower strongarms and air bar kits and I am about half way done installing it. I would have to say AIR RIDE TECHS products are really top notch. Good luck with your investagation but I can save you alot of time and say buy what Darren said and you wont go wrong. Brad

How mechanically inclined do I need to be to install this kit? Does it come with detailed instructions? Also is there any modification that would have to be done to my truck to install, or is it a bolt on system? I am considering the coolride and airbar w/4000e. Thanks in advance, Jake.

Me and a freind have been doing the install on my truck. I was a little scared of it at first but with the instructions a little patiance and some mechanical experience its not that tough. I would say that once you cut the frame for the C notch the rest has been pretty simple. I would also like to add that the staff at AIR RIDE TECH have went way beyond thier means to make it alot easier by being available to talk to over the phone. You will diffently need a hand on the install and take your time this will not happen over night. There is alot of drilling involved with the C notch and a few other areas but no welding at all. We installed the AIRBAR and 1 side of the coolride and still have some more to do before we get into the wiring and well be starting on it in a couple of days. The main reason I wanted to install this myself was to get to know the system and understand it incase of problems down the road. Last I want to thank Bryan, BJ, Darren at AIR RIDE for putting up with my phone calls you guys rock. Thanks Brad

You might consider upgrading that ARC4000e to a 5 gal. tank. I have a new kit that includes two pump and the 5 for 1299. It is the ARC4100e.

What would the 4100e do to the rise time compared to the 3-5 seconds of the 4000e?
Also, I have been looking into other options as well for the truck. One option I' m considering is using drop spindles to lower the front permenately or cut the springs down and go with air in the back. Does air ride sell non air kits (long shot, but thought I would ask anyway). What opinion, if any, do you have for a setup like that?
What will be the range of lift/drop on the truck with the coolride/airbar setup? Would the truck lose towing capacity with the air setup? Sorry for the many questions. I like to be well informed before such a large purchase and investment.
Thanks for everyone' s time, I' m sure I will have more questions.

Towing capacity for the air bar will be the same as factory, only it will still be at ride height versus bottomed out. There is about 6" of travel in the system. Driving height will be about a 4/5 drop. This is about mid travel. Using drop coil or cutting the coils will give a rough ride. Sell coils??? Does Tampax sell bandaids?
You can thank Tony for that analogy.

It won' t affect the speed much.
