drop spindles

i read in few post that belltech' s drop spindles push the wheels out about a
1/2 inch, is that a design flaw? If not, what purpose does it serve for the wheels to come out 1/2 inch?

it' s probably to clear either a caliper or some sort of control arm but I' m just guessing

On the Chevy Fullsize it does but not the S10.
