I am the guy doing the air ride on the VW rabbit. Well the rear is done and works very well. A simple bolt on strut kit is not going to cut it for this car in the front. It is getting relocated strut towers to accomplish the same thing in the rear (Allowing an 8" wide wheel to tuck in at the slammed stance, yet be slightly out of the well at normal height). I really want to weld the bag mounts to the factory strut housing. Obviously, I need steel bag plates to do this, and those are all crimped and cant be dissasembled from the bag making welding a big No-No! I notice that the billet bags can be dissassembled. Here' s my question.....
When you dissassemble the billet bags, I am assuming that there is either a step in the retaining ring, or the end plate itself to retain the lip of the bag. I am hoping it is on the ring, because duplicating the end caps in steel would be very simple if they are just flat on the other side, and would solve all of my problems!
If anyone knows for sure, please post it up, and if you have pics of a billet bag dissassembled, you are my new best friend! I may be getting a little to greedy on that last one though! Thanks for any help!
