I would like to know what is the recommended method of raising an air-ride equipped car on a frame hoist. I own a ' 40 Ford coupe with air ride rear air spring crossmember and rear airbag springs with a Chassis Engineering 4-bar setup.
I am not the builder of the car, so I have no literature from Air-Ride Technologies and I can' t find anything on their website about lifting the car without damaging the air bags. Hope you can help!

from what i' ve always been told/done is to not keep the axle dangling to extend the bags. ESPECIALLY WITH SLEEVED BAGS. I' d say throw it on the life and support the axle once it' s up. The double convulated bags up front should be ok since most vehicles the balljoints bind before full extension of the bag anyways.

If everything is set up properly the shocks should keep the air spring from over extending. I would let the air out after getting it up to reduce the stress on the shock mounts.
