I installed a fuse between the battery and the solenoid, and the compressor will run 3 to 4 cycles and it will blow the fuse. Any idea what it can be? I also have a relay between the solenoid and the compressor.

Which compressor? What size wire? How big of a tank? What size fuse?

The compressor is a 1/3 h.p. 100% duty cycle; the wire is a 8 gauge wire; the tank is a 6 gallon tank; and the fuse is a 50A fuse.

How far is the compressor from the battery? Where is the fuse at in line?
Sorry so many questions I just havn' t found the answer yet.

I don' t mind the questions I appreciate your help. The battery is about 10 feet away from the compressor and the fuse is about 6" away from the battery.

Assuming you compressor is rated at 50amps or less it sounds like you might have a ground of power problem. I would start eliminating parts of the system. Take the compressor out and run it directly to the battery with the fuse in line.
