Cool looking gas cap, reminds me of the seadog gas cap that sells roughly for $14.00!

So how does your cap differ from the competition, other than the cool cap logo?

The $14 is just for the replacement cap, not the whole thing...

Nope its for the complete setup, I checked various places. The cap repalcement itself is selling for around $5-$8.

Okay, no offense meant, but I just googled it and the part number you' re showing (351391-1) is " Replacement cap for Sea-Dog part numbers 351350-1 & 351353-1" , and googling those part numbers brings up the whole assembly....?

I' ve never seen of those caps and don' t really know anything about them. But the CoolCap is polished stainless steel and uses an o ring to seal it. The quality is A+.

Just another example since people seem to think the price is for the cap only. On this site you will see that just the cap is around 6.00ish.

I am not questioning the quality of the product, just whay its worth double the price of ones bought from marine supply co' s. I mean it' s clearly the same product, I hope that much is agreed upon. Being a boater and motorhead, I rarely see gas caps on cars stating " gas" , but on boats you see it all the time, because you also have water tanks that fill the same manner, but have the cap id' d as " water" (On a boat deck its good to know where water goes so you dont put in gas, and vice versa).

just for giggles, i called go2marine' s customer service line, 1-800-998-9508, talked to Dave, $13.95 for part number 63681 is indeed just the inner replacement cap with chain. Whole unit is part number 63677 for $33.95.

second link is to different brand, seachoice, and does indeed look like replacement cap is $6-something, but whole unit for the cap to go in is $25, and doesn' t appear to be polished in the picture or description.

just price differences between different brands and slightly different styles, I guess.

I need to find a way to attach the keys to the car as well; I' m always losing those dang things :D

Thats cool, I was just curious because if the only difference is the coolcap logo I could not see paying $20-$30 more. If it was only the cap then that would flesh out ok, but what I was finding just led me to wonder why these caps were double the price of basicly the same kind on our boat.

It wouldn' t look right on my car or I' d have one; it' s a great idea, considering local gas stations probably have boxes full of my lost gas caps from over the years. :)
