View Full Version : Tri Five Air Bar minus air?

I am looking for more performance oriented, mostly bolt-in rear suspension for my '55 Bel Air. I think the Street challenge kit looks great but I've built up the front end around coilovers and don't want to start again from scratch.
I love that the air bar kit is a mostly bolt in setup and there aren't many options for these cars but I don't really want to deal with having a half-air, half-coilover setup in tuning or cost.
So my question is this: Is it possible to use the air bar four link but with traditional coilovers instead of air springs? Is there any reason this is a bad idea besides the obvious preference for air springs here :)? Is it possible to buy this kit without the air springs?
Thanks in advance for any input.

The airbar can be used with coilovers. We don't sell coilovers tho, $1495 for the AirBar without springs. Any reason a Shockwave can't be used in place of your front coilovers?

Awesome, good to know. How would I find out what coilovers would bolt in, if any?
No reason other then I already have some nice QA1s, tubular a arms and dropped spindles is the front. I've done my homework and I know air ride cars are kicking @ss on road courses but my suspension is already half done. At this point, I want to keep the front and back consistent so it's easier to tune and with the money I've already spend, the coilover route is going to be a bit cheaper for me.
I also have a '66 chevelle and when I get to the suspension on that, I will be going with the full Street Challenge kit.
Thanks again for your help!

Any coil over with a compressed length of around 10.6" and extended of 14.75" we use the Varishockk, by Chassisworks in our Shockwaves.

Awesome, thanks. Last question (I think): Does the air bar use any mounting points specific to a tri-five's stock rear end or would it work just the same with a new, bare 9" housing?

It will work with any axle that is close to 3" in diameter.

Awesome, thanks again (and thanks for your help on the phone yesterday). I'll be ordered that setup real soon.
