View Full Version : Controller, or readout problems

I've got the level pro kit in a 69 GTO.
Everything was working fine, then one day while driving home something strange happened.
I pulled into my garage, and instead of steeping up to get out of the car, I fell down out of the car.
It seems while driving the car decided it wanted to sneak up to full extension. Fortunately it was late and I don't think anyone saw me driving an orange tractor.

Now,while trying to figure out what went wrong, I noticed the level arm on the right rear had come disconnected. The rubber rod end had come off the rod (Hose clamp only). So I hooked it back together, and figured I'd have to reprogram the controller (Plus the battery went dead). Long story short---- the read out reads 188 at all 4 displays, and will not change. I've checked grounds etc, reprogrammed etc, and still 188 on the display.
What am I needing to do next.

A few things before we get to your direct issue:
1-anything programmed into the E2/Level Pro is physically burned into an EPROM chip. This means you can unhook the battery for 10 years and it will still have the programming when you plug it back in.
2-The E2/Level Pro is only active when you press a button. It will shut off when:
A-it reaches the preset destination
B-it takes longer than 26 seconds to reach destination. After 26 seconds the unit will shut off. It is not active (it will not open/close the valves unless you press a button or cycle the ignition)

So now, on to your problems:

The vehicle raising without you pressing the buttons:
-the only way for a bag to inflate is for debris to become lodged in the valves allowing air to slip past the seal and into the air spring
-Did all 4 corners raise, or just one?

Readout of 188:
-The ECU is not seeing a reading from the air pressure sensors or the display has lost connection and does not know what to put on the screen.
-Do the level sensors work?
-The 5V sensor power supply may have failed. If it did no sensors would work (air or level).
-Do your manual inflate/deflate buttons work?
-Do the buttons on the display light up?
-Does any other part of the display function correctly?

All four corners were raised to the max. Higher then I remember programing my high point.
The buttons will activate the individual valves. the 3 presets will not operate.
the screen shows 188 no matter what I push or try to program.
I believe all the buttons light up, including the top center when I tried programing.
I would love for this to turn out to be a simple cable problem or fuse, or relay or something.
The bad news is the car is at home, and I am not, and of course most of the wiring is behind stereo equipment.
If you can give me a direction or list of things to check off, I'll do it tonight and reply back.
Thanks for all the support you guys give, both past and present. this is my 5th system, but first level-pro. I was at first ready to rip it all out and go back to the 4 switches and dual air gauges.. I'll be patient though and hope you can talk me through this

Klunde,
Stick with me and we'll get this resolved. You'll be extremely pleased with the LevelPro once we get it working correctly.

-Unplug the air pressure sensors and tell me what the display reads.

-If you press the preset button to trigger the preset does the button light? Do the valves "click"?

If it were a communication problem between the ECU and the display there would be a loose wire in the display harness (probably grey or orange as they are the transmit and receive wires). It sounds like it's the receive wire as the buttons still work (transmit), but the information to display is not working.

Typically when someone tells me that it was late when they got home and they fell out of their car, I assume that the height of the buzz has more to with it than the height of the vehicle. Have you experienced this same problem during the daylight? :)

On a serious note.... if anyone can get you fixed up it's Britt. It may be better to give him a call when you are with the vehicle.

Is 6 months to late to get back on a project?
Anyway, I did nothing yet. So what I did do was ship my controller to you UPS with my return UPS number. Can you please check its functions when you get it?
Thanks
Kurt

I'll alert the warranty guys to give me a heads up when it arrives. I'll check it personally.

I checked the display and it was acting strange. I've had the warranty guys send out a new display. Let me know when it reaches you.
