f150 shockwave install help?

hey guys, i just wanted to make sure of everything before i go and bolt it all up. I first put all the parts together just to make sure i had everything on the bench and noticed the top of the threaded part of the shockwave does not go all the way through for the nuts to go on. is that right?

No not right. Is the stud top hitting the aluminum cup that is pressed into the black plate? Maybe pull it apart and take a pic.
