View Full Version : 62 Impala ARR20600-LUCA Rear ???
Couple of questions: 62 Impala, instructions for the rear air spring cup say " You may have to drill THE hole in the upper coil spring pocket to 7/16". Does this mean drill an initial hole to 7/16" ? The one that is there ( 3/8" ) appears offset too much to line up with the 7/16" threaded rod. Also is there any securing of the 7/16" threaded rod into the cup end needed like loctite or just thread it in by double nutting until bottomed? For mockup purposes, what is the designed height of these rear air springs at normal ride pressures? Lastly, is it all right to let the rear end hang down by the threaded rods in the air spring and shocks?( No driveshaft installed at this time ) Thanks, Kevin.

Yes, you can let the suspension hang by the air spring and or shocks.
Some cars have a 3/8" hole in the center of the upper pocket. Some cars have a 3/8" hole that is offset a little. Some cars do not have a hole at all. If your hole is not in the center you may have to drill a new hole or bend the all thread a little. That stud is only there to keep the air spring in place when the vehicle is lifted by the frame. Ride height on that air spring is 5-6" tall.
Great, Thanks. Mine has no hole at all in the center. There is a 3/8 hole out near the edge. I will have to drill the 7/16 holes.Appreciate the quick reply. Thanks again, Kevin.
How about securing the all thread into the cup? Loctite? Thanks.

Loc-tite is not a bad idea.
