This afternoon I was having some exhaust work done on my 37 Ford street rod. It has a RidePro ARC4000 4 Way System installed on it. The guy doing the exhaust work was welding a section of pipe just behind the header collector and a spark burned a hole in the 1/4 O.D. plastic air line going to the left front wheel. We managed to repair the line using a double male barbed union like the type used to repair plastic gas lines. It's been on the car for about 6 hours and there doesn't appear to be any leakage or air loss. Afterwards, I went to a truck dealer and bought enough air line to completely replace the line, but I'd really like to avoid that if at all possible. The guy at the truck dealer also sold me two brass female unions with compression fittings. He told me they use them all the time to repair air brake lines on trucks. Has anyone else had to repair damaged air lines on their systems? Have the repaired the air lines worked OK? My system appears to be working OK, but I'd really like to know if repairing the line is a viable option or if replacing the entire line is the only way to be sure.

As long as the union's are DOT approved, I would feel comfortable with the repair. If they are not.....replace the line. You will sleep better.
