65 impala bag cup

On a 1965 impala which angle should the front bag cup be facing ? Long side to engine compartment or out to wheel

the long side of the bracket shound be towards the wheel.

So should I disregard the instruction sheet that says "The fitting access hole will be clocked towards the outer tie rod end."

That's pretty such the same thing. The air fitting hole in the round plate is clocked to the tall side of the tube when welding it. So, clocking the air fitting hole toward the tie rod, does put the tall side toward the wheel, slightly toward the rear.
