I bought the new E3 controller last september but just got installed into the car this week, i wired it up the way it says and the compresser and the valves work and i can use the controller to go up and down but there is no display on the screen, when i plug it in it gives a little flash and then a black screen, is this a problem with the controller or the computer or the wiring??

The e3 actually learns the electrical system in the vehicle during Calibration, this way it can tell if anything strange happens to the charging system. Prior to Calibration the system doesn't really know when to turn everything on/off, we just take an educated guess based on voltages in the vehicle. Once in a while it gets confused and we need to "jump start" the display. Please try this:
1-Start the Vehicle
-DO NOT use a battery charger to test the system (cheap battery chargers put out all kinds of voltage spikes. If the e3 sees 22V for longer than a second it will fail. It sounds high, but I've seen it happen.)
2-unplug the large power/compressor connector on the ECU
3-wait a few seconds
4-plug the connector back in (with the vehicle running)
5-the screen should come to life
6-you will have to complete Calibration before the screen will turn on/off

the car isn't running yet, does that matter??

i tried unplugging it like you said and still nothing. the car isn't running yet, does that matter? i have it running off a optima battery, does it need more than 12v to work properly?

No, it only requires 12V (normal automotive voltage). Do you have anything else hooked up to the battery? What is the voltage of the battery? It sounds like it has decent voltage as the valves will inflate and deflate.

Try this:
1-turn ignition on
2-remove the red wire from the battery
3-wait a few seconds
4-re-connect red wire to battery

For some reason the e3 sees voltage and allows you to inflate/deflate but it has not instructed the screen to wake up.

while i have been trying to figure out the controller problem i noticed i had a air leak so i went to fix it and found that the brand new shockwave in the rear has a small pin hole in it near the top of the bag. the car has only been aired up a few times and it is NOT rubbing on anything. it looks like a manufacturing defect since there is no rub marks on it. I bought them as a kit through the Old Car Center in Lanley B.C. Canada, is there any warrenty??

I pulled the power wire off the battery like you said and i got the screen to turn on. i went through some of the settings and found that is was getting 11.9-12v's but when i turn the key off and turn it on again the screen doesn't come back on again, i can get it working everytime if i reboot it with that wire but there must be another problem or setting???

As stated in Post #2:
The e3 actually learns the electrical system in the vehicle during Calibration, this way it can tell if anything strange happens to the charging system. Prior to Calibration the system doesn't really know when to turn everything on/off, we just take an educated guess based on voltages in the vehicle. Once in a while it gets confused and we need to "jump start" the display.

So you have to run Calibration before the screen will work correctly. After Calibration the screen will turn on and off as it should as the e3 has learned the specific electrical system of that vehicle.

Voltage doesn't have much of an affect on the e3. It can run anywhere from 7V to 20V. Other items in the car will not work at these voltages.

im currently in the middle of my e2 to e3 upgrade and i am having the same problem with my screen...when it does stay on however the cailbration process seems to freeze at "checking psi sensors" screen...

If you connected the grey wire to ground (as asked in the other post) the system will be damaged and will have to be returned to us for evaluation and repair.

If you did not ground the grey wire, what does the screen tell you when it stops. The e3 is VERY intelligent and tells you an error when it fails to do something, or sees something it does not like.
