Put strut bags on my 01 Hyundai in june, driven it alot since, cant find a good balance between a low ride height and decent handleing. Gotta run at least 60psi in front 40 in the rear to keep the car from bouncing and swaying, problem being, it stands over an inch higher than stock at this pressure. Any solutions- the struts are individually valved already- maybe missing something inbetween? Hit me back.

Whose kit is it? Sounds like you will need to shorten your bracketry.

Ordered the strut bags from AIM industries- They came with some bearing spacers, which at first i installed as recommended- they added an inch to the assembly. Removed the spacers about a month after, of course buying another inch of drop. The struts are, what i believe to be, aftermarket replacements that have been modified to accept the sleeves that hold a double convoluted bag. In general, they seem to be really durable, but- the car sits like an AMC Eagle when aired up. Ive thought about modifying the original struts, relocating the lower mounting bracket futher up the strut body, then installing the bags on them, but after having attempted this with a previous project, it seems a near impossiblity, or at least an unsafe idea. Not sure if there are changes that could be made to the strut towers, or lower suspention to gain an inch or two. Ya gotta love the classic MacPherson strut suspention- Any ideas? Appreciate the response

i have the same problem. my struts ride real high at riding level. i have a 99 integra by the way. i have the bags in front and cylinders in rear. the only thing i' ve been told is to get smaller wishbones for me. but i dunno what kinda suspensio you have.

Hyundai uses a MacPherson strut suspention, really common amoung front wheel drive cars- all but honda. The front is simply a strut with a spring that rides on it attached to the top of the spindle and a lower A arm that holds the bottom of the spindle, my rear suspention is also Macphesron strut but with independent forward and side sway bars at the bottom of the spindle. It almost seems like the only way to get lower is to have a shorter bodied strut- common` Ride Tech, make me some!!

Got any measurements? Also a double convoluted on a MacPherson strut is probably a little much. I would suggest a tapered sleeve.

do you have the air struts system? if not, which system exactly?

Yeah, all four corners are air struts... front and back are nearly identical.. also got 4way plumbing.

You are not driving with if fully inflated are you? Driving height should be about 2/3 the way up.

Is that for all air ride products? So if AirShocks can get you 7 inches high, you should stay around 4.5~ for normal driving ? or do you have to find the best pressure?

It' s all about ride quality. Where ever it rides best at. For most vehicles you need at least 3" on the compression and 2" on rebound for a good ride quality.

Im probably over inflating them some, havent really tried driving with under 50psi in front and rear... was kind of concerned that sharp bumps might bottom out the acutual sturt... but, looks like best way to find out is ta try less air- hoping to get my seats back from upholstery by the weekend-- go for a drive and find out ~
