View Full Version : rear vw airstruts
Hey,
I had a few questions on the rear vw airstruts. First are they completely bolt on? How do you adjust the valves on the back airstruts is there just a knob on the top or bottom or do you have to pull a wheel and half disable the bag to adjust? Will I be able to put aim airstruts up front and have yours in the back w/ no problems?.

It actually not a strut, just a conventional air spring with some billet upper and lower mounts. The shock is external.

Yes.
any modifications need to be made for them to clear the shock or get in the way of anything like that?

Nope. Bolt in.
I' m assuming if I install the back bags I have to get new shocks for the back right?

What year VW are you talking about? On the 99-newer, it will just be the bag, but up to 98, the shock and spring are together, so it would require something different.
My vw is a 2002 gti, I will probably still replace the rear shocks because I have heard the factory shocks can wear out quickly with a lowered car. I mine as well and save the trouble later on. Thanks for the info. I really wanna get your front vw air struts as well, but I know they don' t come out until the summer. I don' t know if I can wait that long.
