Where is the best place to mount bags? Over the axle, in front or behind of it? Which will give me the most travel and lowest when deflated? It is goin on an 86 Sierra.

Thanks

86sierra,

I mounted mine in front of the axle, and parallel with it. Not ontop of axle because there' s nowhere to mount the bag brackets with a notch in the frame. Behind the axle is better for load capacity, in front of axle is better for getting it lower to the ground. Not much of a difference, it comes down to where you have more space for the bags and what you think looks better. How big of a notch are you going with?

I was looking at either an 8 or a 10 inch notch. You were saying about not having a bracket that will mount to the notch. I think i have seen a few that do mount on the notch on suicidedoors.com . I have the same truck as you so I was wondering what brackets did you use to mount your bags.

Thanks

I used the mounts that come with ART' s parallel 4-link. They wouldnt work over the axle with the 8' ' notch i used. I think I' ve seen those mounts your talking about. I figured you were using ART' s mounts, which don' t work over the axle with a huge notch. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Most guys going on top of the axle are using a double convoluted bag which has a ride height of about 5" . That bag is good for speed but horrible for ride quality and travel. So we always use the F9000 which is about 8.5" tall at ride height. If you mount it to the side of the axle it can be mounted flush with the bottom of the axle. Saving an additional 3.5" of space.

Ok, thanks guys. The Parllel 4 link with the shockwave bags, are they the f9000 bags? I think it cost like $1100

Now the Shockwaves are different than the F9000. They have the same bellow but has the shock inside the bag.

oh, ok. So should I just get the kit with the bag mounts and the shocks, and just buy the bags seperately. And thanks for all the help.
