This may seeem strange, but I' m actually looking at an airbag set up to lift my truck. I currently have on it the Hotchkis TVS drop system (2/3 drop) and I love the way it handles, just want to be able to lift the truck back up to stock height if ground clearence becomes an issue and to also get back the load capacity I lost with the drop springs.

So basicly I' m looking for helper bags that will auto level (at least in the rear) and I' d like ride height controls in the cab. Any pointers on where to start looking?

Our kit for that truck will give about a 3/4 drop at ride height and an additional 3" when fully deflated. Fully inflated will be about stock height.

What kind of modification would I need to do tho? I' d like to get away with not having to cut a C-notch or tub the bed. I' m not really looking for that slammed to the ground look. I want the stiffer handling of a sport suspension, and it so happens that a byproduct of that is having the truck ride lower.

Well if you are just looking for extra load capacity you could just use the Air Over Leaf kit. This won' t require any mods except drilling a couple holes.

I had a beltec 2/4 kit on my 99 dakota. The truck locked and handled great, but every bump in the road caused the rear axle to hit the ground. I even scraped the trans cross member on a speed bump in a parking garage. I' m just finish installing an air bar on the rear and airbag and shocks on the front. Since I already replace the hangers on the back it only took about an afternoon to install the airbar I already had drilled out the rivets for the hangers. The front was more difficult. On my truck there isn' t enough room tho install the shocks without the tires rubbing in full steering lock( and I' m still runnig the stock wheels and tires) so I had to install external steering stops. So I recommend spending the extra money for the Shockwaves. I' m putting the bed back on tonight. I hope to have it back on the road this weekend. Then I' ll post my opinion on how the truck handles.
