A total of 37 cars hit the track today divided into 3 run groups and rotating every 20 minutes… covering well over 1000 timed laps at speed. The on track action was fast, and the cars even faster. To say folks were having some fun could be the understatement of the year… and this was only day one of two, there will be much more coverage of this event coming, these photos are just the start.
Live Internet Broadcast Scoring from the Event
We implemented something totally new (and frankly-very untested) today at the track. We duplicated the scoring system FM3 Marketing (the folks directing the event) on a web based application to provide real time (or close to real time) scoring for the competitors via internet enabled devises – you know, fancy cell phones. This allowed participants to keep track of their lap times compared to other cars on the track. It actually worked remarkably well, and we will be using a similar system on Sunday for the autocross and speed stop events.
The added benefit of being web based means you too can follow along with the competition occurring at the Midwest Musclecar Challenge from your recliner at home on your computer, cell phone or ipad. So while your watching the Indy 500 on Sunday, take a few minutes and check in on the live results from a certain air-strip just down the road from the big track in Indy. You might be surprised to see which one has the best competition going on!
