OVERVIEW

Since its introduction in 1999, the ShockWave has proven to be the most significant development in air suspensions... ever! In the summer of 2003, two United States patents were granted concerning the design and function of the ShockWave.

What does this mean to you, the customer?

It means RideTech is the inventor of this technology, not an imitator. It also means that we will continue to develop and refine new variations of the ShockWave to meet your specific needs.

The ShockWave mounts like a coilover and replaces the coilspring with an adjustable air spring for a huge range of tuning options. It provides a simple, hightech way to provide the ultimate in adjustable suspension design. With more options than ever, the ShockWave is the foundation for a RideTech air suspension.

FEATURES

PERFORMANCE SHOCKS

The ShockWave uses premium impact forged monotube shocks available in several styles of adjustability for performance.

BOLT-ON INSTALLATION

Mounting of the ShockWave is typically a bolt in affair with little or no modification or fabrication needed.

IMPROVED RIDE QUALITY

With an air suspension you have a huge range of tuning ability for load capacity and spring rate at your fingertips.

ADJUSTABLE RIDE HEIGHT

Lower and raise the vehicle quickly for a unique look without sacrificing any drivability or durability.

DUARBILITY

Using the same high quality rubber that 18 wheelers use on today's highways, the airspring will last for many years.

IMPROVED TIRE CLEARENCE

By eliminating an outboard mounted shock, tire clearance at full steering lock is greatly improved on some applications.

SHOCKWAVE OPTIONS

RQ Series
The Ride Quality ("RQ") series is a great entry level solution. It still retains all the mounting and installation advantages of the other shock series. With fixed shock valving, the RQ series is designed to optimize ride quality, leaving out the guess work.

Features:
• Fixed shock valving designed to optimize ride quality
• Aluminum impact forged construction provides leak free operation
• A great option for increasing ride quality and performance on a budget
• Monotube design
HQ Series
The Handling Quality ("HQ") series features adjustable shock valving. It is housed in a lightweight aluminum impact forged construction that is available in a wide range of stroke lengths, and mounting styles to fit a large variety of applications.

Features:
• Aluminum impact forged construction allows leak free operation
• Single rebound shock valving adjustment
• Monotube design for superior oil control
• Easy & precise valve adjustment with 26 rebound clicks
TQ Series
The Track Quality ("TQ")  shock line goes beyond the typical double adjustable units that have been popular; the TA shock has a single rebound adjustment and a DUAL stage [high speed and low speed] compression adjustment.

Features:
• Single rebound adjustment PLUS dual stage high & low speed compression
• Aluminum impact forged shock construction for leak free operation
• Monotube design for superior oil control
• Remote reservoir includes mounting brackets
Select Series
The Select Series is a steel body monotube damper with TWO sets of independent internal valving so you can choose between "cruise-mode" with a soft compliant ride or a firmer "sport mode" for handling performance... all at the touch of a switch!

Features:
• Proven reliable OEM electronic damping technology
• Steel monotube construction
• Durability over 100k miles
• Instant response to valving changes
• Perfect for vehicles with radically changing loads.

TWO WAYS TO SHOP: BY VEHICLE:

BY UNIVERSAL APPLICATION:

Universal ShockWaves comes in a variety of mounting and ride height options, making them a perfect solution for your custom project. First you will need to choose the ShockWave best suited for your vehicle's load capacity; then you will need to choose compression and extended shock lengths. Choose from the options below:

1000 series chart

1000 Series

The 1000 series double convoluted ShockWave, with its shorter stroke and larger diameter will have a larger load capacity and spring rate that is appropriate for the front of most vehicles. It is also a progressive spring, which means that the further it is compressed, the firmer the spring rate. This progressive spring rate helps the vehicle ride very comfortably at a normal ride height and still offer great handling when the spring is compressed farther, such as a tight turn.

104 series chart

104 Series

The 104mm ShockWave combines the load capacity of the double convoluted ShockWave with the stroke and linear spring rate of the rolling sleeve ShockWave. It is used in the front of some vehicles to further improve ride quality, and in the rear of some very heavy vehicles to increase load capacity. It is exactly the same overall diameter as the 6.5" diameter double convoluted ShockWave.

7000 series chart

7000 Series

The 7000 and 8000 series ShockWave, with a smaller diameter and longer stroke will have a less load capacity and a softer spring rate that is appropriate for the rear of most vehicles with a solid rear axle. The spring rate and load capacity is infl uenced by the profi le of the lower piston. A straight piston will offer a very linear, or constant spring rate throughout its travel. A tapered lower piston will result in a more progressive spring rate much like the double convoluted airspring.

Front

Diameter and load capacity:
6.5" diameter = 2140 lbs. at 100 psi

Recommended Applications:
Independent front and/or Independent rear installations on vehicles weighing 1500-2500 lbs. per axle. NOT recommended for solid axle rear applications... not enough travel, too much load capacity.

General Terms to Know:

Compressed Length

This is the measurement from the two mounting points when the suspension is fully compressed.

Ride Length

This is the distance between the two mounting points when the vehicle is at the height it is intended to be driven

Extended Length

This is the length between the mounting points when the suspension is at full extension

Mounting Style

What length ShockWave should be used?

in general the longer the better. A longer ShockWave will give you more suspension travel. More suspension travel will allow a better ride quality because the vehicle has more distance to absorb road irregularities. The heavier the vehicle, the more important this becomes.

Information on ride height:

The ride height of the ShockWave is much more important than the air pressure it runs at.

Every ShockWave has an optimal ride height. The farther you deviate from this intended ride height the more ride quality and handling performance will suffer.

If run too low, the ShockWave and/or suspension may bottom out. If run too high, the excessive air pressure will create a stiff ride, AND you may "top out" the ShockWave.
