48-Hour Corvette On The Scene In Ohio

The largest city in Ohio got a whole lot larger this weekend, as thousands of visitors flocked in with thousands of cars for the annual PPG Nationals in Columbus, OH.  This show is always a favorite with the RideTech Nation, and this year was no different!  One of the big draws of this event is the Friday night TGIF party in the huge host hotel parking lot; with cars, cruising, and crowds, it’s a large bit of fun for everyone.  And this year, in honor of RideTech’s 20th Anniversary, we sponsored the TGIF party and brought in country music star James Otto to give a special concert for partygoers.  James isn’t just a singer, he’s also a RideTech customer and friend, and we had a great time at his show!
Chris and the 48-Hour Corvette put on a great show of their own, consistently bettering their times throughout the weekend.  The track this year began as a longer course than usual, with times for the first dozen competitors hitting around the 60-second mark; but after an early extreme oil-down, the track had to be shortened into closer to 30-seconds.  But that doesn’t seem to bother this car in the slightest!  After taking Friday to adjust some settings and account for the hot weather, the pair qualified for the Saturday morning Sponsor Shootout bracket.  The competition was fierce, with the top three finishers pulling out times that weren’t reached again for the rest of the event.  Chris and the Corvette finished a mere 1.7 seconds behind Shootout winner Danny Popp, and continued to improve throughout the weekend!  The pair improved so much that on the final day of racing, they placed third in the Fun Run class, only .29 seconds behind winner (and RideTech customer!) Dan Ballard.  The autocross at this event is very well attended by spectators, and with the extra course size, they were able to accommodate even more spectators than ever!  We’re sure the attendance numbers broke some records for this event, and we think this event will continue to do so for many years to come.  View streaming footage from the event on our Facebook page, located HERE.
