This Fourth of July weekend, we’re in Des Moines, Iowa, for the 30th annual Goodguys Heartland Nationals. The show brings over 4,000 hot rods and street machines to the Iowa State Fairgrounds for three days of cruising, racing and a whole lot more.
Early Friday morning, cars of all kinds started rolling into town. With temperatures in the 80s and sunny skies, it became immediately clear that this was going to be one of the biggest and best shows of the year. Once our booth was in position in the manufacturers midway, we grabbed our cameras and started scouting the fairgrounds to check out everything Des Moines had to offer.
From full-custom Camaros and 900-horsepower Corvettes to slammed Blazers and freshly unearthed barnfinds, there was no shortage of interesting material. Below, you’ll find a gallery of some of our favorites—including Autocross action from Goodguys’ “Duel in Des Moines.”
