The Place To Be: Test Drives, Product Demos and Knowledge

A company is only as good as it’s customers and RideTech has the greatest customers in the world. Every year, a small number of our dealers gather at RideTech HQ in Jasper, Ind. to further their knowledge regarding handling and ride quality in general as well as RideTech components, in particular. To keep things fun and interesting, our annual Dealer Conference includes test drives, Ride-A-Longs on our test track and some truly exceptional food. If you are in the custom car car business, it’s a big time.

This year, participating dealers had the chance to steal the keys to Bret’s Buick GSX as well as our ’57 “Big Window” pickup that features RidePro-X air suspension management. Like kids in the proverbial candy store,  dealers would test drive one cool car, then hop out and drive another.  It’s a great opportunity to sample StreetGRIP, Coilover and air ride cars and trucks back-to-back. Attendees get to test-drive new parts such as Bolt-On 4-Links and R-Joints as well as the vehicles.

Wilwood’s Carl Bush was on hand to talk about a myriad of braking system topics including caliper and master cylinder selection as well as rotor requirements and pedal ratios. It was all very technical, yet explained in easy terms.

The conference involves two days of classroom time, but there are plenty of breaks plus breakfast, lunch dinner (one night), snacks and after-hours loitering. In many ways, it’s more of a party setting than higher learning environment. Ride-A-Longs on the test track seal the deal. The 2017 RideTech Dealer Conference is the place to be if you build hot rods, custom cars and cool trucks. Thanks to all who attended and see you next year.

Engineer Brit Marolf explains our all new, full feature RidePro-X air suspension controller. A look at the large screen to his right shows three ride height choices and easy-to-read pressure readouts and adjustments. RidePro-X works seamlessly in the background, so you rarely need to access the software beyond setup and calibration.

Bret Voelkel explains our new and unique Bolt-On 4-Link kit for second generation Camaros and Firebirds. The design offers adjustable anti-squat and has a simple, yet specific installation  procedure due to its “Unicradle” design.
Test drives were in order after everyone’s brains were full of useful data and information. Available vehicles included two StreetGRIP cars (a 72 Chevelle and a 72 C10), an air ride 57 pickup and three coilover-equipped vehicles: an 87 C10 square fender, a 71 Camaro and a 1970 Buick GSX.
Out of one car and into the next: Test driving different vehicles and suspension formats back to back is enlightening and fun.
When not driving around in test vehicles or holding down classroom chairs, staff and dealers alike could be usually be found under one of the many vehicles on hand. This is a last year (1987) square-fender C10 pickup with our new coilover system.
Carl Bush from Wilwood Disc Brakes held a comprehensive braking system seminar. Of course, all seminars included Q&A sessions.
Next year, we may rearrange the layout to accommodate more dealers. The 2017 conference was a sold out event. We greatly appreciate everyone who attended.

If you own a shop and appreciate honing your knowledge, test driving cool cars and eating great food, be sure to join us for the 2018 RideTech Dealer Conference.
