Big Win in Texas as RideTech Dominates Goodguys Autocross Two Weeks in a Row

What could be better than a win  for RideTech at Goodguys Scottsdale, the season opener for pro-touring related racing?  Back to back wins in Scottsdale, Ariz. and Ft. Worth, Texas!! While RideTech went into Scottsdale with a fair amount of confidence, the Texas race was more of a wildcard event as many heavy hitters are based in the area. Smitty managed to hold the number one position throughout the event, but the feeling was that he could lose the lead at any time. The Texas course layout was really tight with a super slow hairpin near the start, followed by tight, technical turns. Letting it all hang out, Smitty actually spun on one fast lap. He “backed it in” through the finish line/stop box. A dog-leg near the finish line encouraged WOT acceleration and tail-happy finishes.

While the PRO cars are fun to watch, the truck class was a real crowd-pleaser. The entire truck podium consisted of RideTech-equipped trucks including Duke Roddy’s mean widebody C10 hot rod pickup. The Street Machine class was hotly contested with Kevin Daigle in the little Cobra and Chris Jacobs piloting the “Grandma” Nova for Dan Ballard, both posting times that would be competitive in the PRO Class. If you have never been to a Goodguys Texas event, add it to your bucket list.  The cars will blow your mind, the people are friendly and the area food is phenomenal.  Texas barbecue ROCKS!

Chris Smith and the RideTech 48-Hour Corvette won the PRO Class in Texas. That makes back-to-back wins for Smitty, RideTech, and Instinct Electronic shocks!

The truck class was hotly contested with some amazing classic pickups on hand, and the top three trucks were all RideTech-equipped!  Congrats to Duke Roddy and his bad ass 1st Gen C10.

Right off the trailer, Josh Leisinger and the Summit Racing Equipment Corvette were fast. Josh and his Corvette advance to the Duel in the Desert Shootout at the end of the year.

Summit Racing Equipment and the Leisinger family were out in full force. All of the cars were fast and fun to watch, too.

Here’s a stunning example of what can be accomplished with the Nova platform. Craig Johnson’s Nova ran an LS3, 6L80E trans, and RideTech Triple Adjustable monotube shocks.
The variety of cars at Goodguys Texas was exceptional. All three of these cars were fast, with the Cobra winning the Street Machine class.

Chris Moore’s 72 Maverick was one of our favorite cars in Texas. It runs a small block Ford with a T5 transmission. RideTech Triple Adjustable Monotube Shocks keep it planted in the corners.

The leaderboard shows just how tight the racing runs at Goodguys Autocross competitions. Chris Smith and Josh Leisinger led the field throughout the event.

Kris King had the time of his life running his RideTech Track 1 equipped 1969 Camaro. The car is part of the Scot Rods Garage Racing Team.

The Hot Rod class winner is not running RideTech products, but congrats anyway. We will let you trade in your shocks for a set of RideTech Hot Rod Series shocks!
