Goodguys 18th Meguiar’s Del Mar Nationals

Del Mar is one of the fastest, most challenging courses on the Goodguys Autocross circuit. With major bumps and sloping race surfaces, drivers tend to either slow way down or SEND IT!  RideTech fits into the latter category.  The competition’s top drivers put on a great show with tons of tire smoke, throttle oversteer and generous use of the rev limiter.  That excitement drew huge crowds to the autocross track each day. That’s great news for us all. The place was so packed that drivers found it difficult to access their pit stalls.
The 48 Hour Camaro, on display all weekend, was wheeled, in part, by David Carroll who eventually won the Shootout in his personal car — an angry, LS-powered Datsun 280Z. David had great things to say about the 48 Hour Camaro’s power, the unique automatic transmission and how well everything works for a true “bolt-together” car.

If you see these two cars at an upcoming show, be sure to stop by and say hello. We will be glad to give you a tour and possibly give you a ride.

Chris “Smitty” Smith made it into the shootout with the Track 1 Camaro where he was taken out in the second round. In only its second full event, the Track 1 Camaro is starting to come into its own.  As the video above shows, The PPG Stealth Gray hot rod is crazy fast and extremely capable. The car rotates beautifully. The in-car footage reveals a very calm and composed “Smitty” behind the wheel.

Special thanks to Racepak for coming out and installing a new prototype data logging system between rounds. The soon-to-be-released design works great.  That reminds us: Everyone here is welcome to spend time with Team RideTech and the two Camaros at the track. Ride-A-longs are welcome, as well. The next event is in Raleigh, NC April 27-29. Additionally, Chevy Hi-Performance Magazine will be shooting both cars for upcoming articles next week.
