RideTech Visits Capital Hill for SEMA Washington Rally 2017

RideTech General Manager B.J. Elmore and Nick Gramelspacher of Meyer Distributing are proud to have met with Dr. Larry Bucshon. In a addition to saving lives as a board certified surgeon, Dr. Bucshon acts as State Representative for the 8th District of Indiana — RideTech’s home district.

RideTech General Manager B.J. Elmore, together with approximately 100 other SEMA member-manufacturers, visited Washington D.C. as part of SEMA Washington Rally 2017.  B.J. Elmore, who also serves as Chairman-Elect for the Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA), commented: “It’s an opportunity for aftermarket industry representatives to meet with state politicians in support of our great hobby and industry.” The 2017 Rally is especially important as the SEMA Action Network is working to gain support for legislation known as the “Recognizing The Protection of Motorsports Act.” More commonly known as “The RPM Act,” the proposed legislation clarifies that it is legal under federal law to modify the emissions system of a motor vehicle that is converted for race-use-only. If passed, the legislation will protect Americans’ right to modify street vehicles into dedicated race cars and industry’s right to sell the parts that enable racers to compete.

A critical component of the Rally, SEMA Ambassadors take time to meet with members of Congress from their respective states. B.J. Elmore, together with Nick Gramelspacher of Meyer Distributing, met with Indiana State Senators as well as State Representatives. The personal face-time goes a long way towards helping politicians understand our industry so that they vote in favor of The RPM Act and other issues, such as corporate taxation and health care.
