Ridetech-equipped Chevy Wins Radical Custom Truck Class at GNRS

At the Grand National Roadster Show, Ricardo Lopez and his 1956 Chevy “Monik” brought home the award for Best Radical Custom Truck. Built for his wife, Monica, Ricardo and his team at Customs by Lopez went all out. The build debuted at the 2021 SEMA Show, and we were excited to see it last weekend in Pomona.

Lopez’ goal was to build a classic truck with contemporary styling. From front to rear, every inch of this Chevy has been tastefully customized. Highlights include shaved trim, custom bumpers, a one-off grille and LED light bar in the tailgate. Power comes from a FI-tech equipped smallblock Chevy.

In typical Lopez fashion, this ’56 was designed for show and go. To get it sitting right, he and his team grafted in a second-generation Camaro front subframe and installed Ridetech StrongArms. Out back, they opted for a four-link. When combined with Budink Spyder wheels and Nitto tires, the truck has a picture-perfect stance.

Congratulations to Ricardo, Monica and the entire Customs by Lopez team. We can’t wait to see what you build next!
