Rear HQ Series CoilOvers for 1988-1998 C1500  (For use with Wishbone System)

In simple terms, a coil-over is a shock absorber with a threaded body that is surrounded by a coil spring that is held between two collars. This useful design places the shock and coil in one linear unit for compact suspension packaging. Additionally, coil-overs allow for adjustment of spring pre-load which directly impacts your vehicle’s installed height. As such, it is possible to rate your cars static ride height by making changes to to the coil-over’s installed height. For example, if you adjust the collars to compress a coil-over spring, the vehicle will raise up.  Lowering the vehicle’s ride height is simply a matter of loosening the collars.

  7. Oversized rod guide improves piston rod stability.
  8. Integral internal bumpstop eliminates extension crashing.
  9. Hard coat external anodizing ensures years of lasting beauty and performance.
  10. Teflon piston wiper and progressive valving allow consistent piston/bore contact and repeatable performance.
  11. Housing bore is cathode anodized for years of wear resistance.
  12. Specially contoured composite gas separator cup optimizes dead length and ensures proper nitrogen/oil separation.
  13. Long lasting Kevlar lined bearings allow wide articulation and low noise.

Selecting Coil-Overs: Choose HQ Series with single (rebound) adjustment or TQ Series with triple adjustment including rebound, low speed compression and high speed compression.  Before ordering,  measure the distance between mounting points to match the compressed and extended dimensions below.  If you need help determining your vehicle’s coil-over shock length, please call.

Selecting Coil Springs:

To use coil-overs on your vehicle, you must have the correct rate springs installed. The spring rate needs to be within the range of adjustment for your vehicle.

To find your desired spring-rate for the coil spring. Spring rate is the force required to compress a spring 1″ and is an important factor in your ride height. Finding the desired spring rate is a bit tricky, since you will have to know key vehicle parameters such as weight as well as suspension measurements.
