Description

Lower your 1973-1987 GM pickup while dramatically improving its handling and ride quality. Nicknamed the “square body,” these pickups really benefit from our StreetGRIP suspension system. The complete kit includes special composite leaf springs that shed a considerable amount of un-sprung weight. The trick leaf springs also create a great stance in conjunction with custom coil springs and dropped spindles. Self-lubricating delrin bushings reduce deflection without making noise. The icing on the cake is a set of Ridetech HQ Series adjustable mono tube shock absorbers. Our shocks are vastly superior to the cheap twin-tube shocks sold in other kits with respect to handling, ride, and durability. When choosing a suspension kit, it’s important to keep in mind that shocks are one of the most important parts of the equation. Ridetech shocks are so good, they carry a million and one mile warranty. StreetGRIP and Square bodies go great together. The proof is in the drive.

  • COMPOSITE LEAF SPRINGS eliminate spring sag and optimize ride quality & handling while reducing un-sprung weight by as much as 70 lbs.
  • CUSTOM SHACKLES AND HANGERS W/DELRIN BUSHINGS eliminate unwanted movement and stiction, improve handling, and are self-lubricating.
  • FRONT DUAL RATE COILSPRINGS have a spring rate optimized to enhance ride quality while not sacrificing performance.
  • DELRIN BUSHINGS for the leaf springs and control arms eliminate unwanted movement and stiction, improve handling, and are self-lubricating.
  • 1.5″ SWAY BAR reduces roll over stock bar and poly bushings with delrin liner eliminate stiction & improve ride quality.
  • ADJUSTABLE MONO TUBE SHOCKS are tuned per application and offer a 1,000,001-Mile Warranty.
  • DROP SPINDLES allow a lowered stance while maintaining suspension travel.   The modular design allows for variety of brake options including Baer, Wilwood or the stock HD brakes (1.25″ wide rotors).

Just want to take a minute brag about your StreetGrip Suspension Kit. It worked perfectly and handles great!!! I was really surprised at how well the composite leaf springs work under power and handles. The truck handles like a dream!!! I’m putting out over 535 HP and it works perfectly!! Very Very pleased customer!

This static drop C10 StreetGRIP Suspension kit is perfection. Having lowered trucks in the past with blocks, cut springs, and/or leaf spring removals, I was looking for something that would give me an improved ride on top of the improved looks. This system delivers in both regards, with VASTLY improved handling in my old truck, and constant positive remarks from strangers about how it looks. All components are of high quality, and the adjustable shocks offer some play to meet my needs exactly.

One of the other things I was looking for in a lowering system is that it be achievable at home. I am a DIYer and do 90%+ of my upgrades using jack stands in my small garage or under a shade tree. This system delivers on that requirement as well, with my install being completed using non-pneumatic tools, jack stands, one free tool rental from an auto parts store (for bushing install) and some elbow grease! With no C-Notch necessary, I did not need to grind/cut/weld, which lowers the skill level considerably.

I had a single snafu in that my OEM 15×8 Rally wheels rubbed the spindle when the wheel was turned as far as possible. This was alleviated with wheel spacers, though it could have also been alleviated with grinding the spindle where it would touch the wheel. This was a temporary fix until I got my new, larger, wheels in… which had no issue at all.

After install, I note a vast improvement over stock in turns, with less body roll and a tighter/quicker response. The ride is stiffer, and I have a better feel of the road without so much cab ‘bounce’ when I am driving at speed (which was always an issue with stock components). Measured drop is just a hair over 4/6 (front/rear) and less than 1/8″ difference in total fender height front to rear (perfectly level).

I’d highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to both lower their vehicle AND address the handling. A great system, that is easy to install using normal tools which provides a great look and an improved driving experience.
