Shocks are the brains of your suspension…the single most important influence on ride quality and handling performance. RideTech and Fox have spent years refining the characteristics of these monotube shocks to optimize the performance of YOUR car!

California Prop 65 Warning

Description

Shock absorbers are without a doubt the brains of your suspension. Nothing influences how your car rides and handles more than its shock absorbers. Their primary function is to control the oscillations of your car’s springs thereby keeping your tires in contact with the road.  To best accomplish that objective, RideTech shock absorbers utilize monotube design which allows for a larger piston and more precise valving.  The design is superior to twin tubes shocks with respect to damping and reliability.  These HQ Series Shocks are rebound adjustable shock absorbers and offer exceptional quality thanks to impact-forged, hard-anodized bodies and heavy-duty shafts. They carry an industry-best 1,000,001 mile warranty.

Fitment of this front shock includes:

  • 1964-1967 GM “A” Body (Chevelle, Cutlass, El Camino, Lemans, Skylark etc)
  • 1960-1974 Galaxie (Monterey, Sunliner, Montclair)
  • 1957-1958 Fairlane

Dimensions:
Compressed – 9.05″
Ride Height – 12.25″
Extended – 14.3″

Narrow T-Bar – 2.25″ to 2.56″ Center to Center

These were the missing piece on my 1964 Monterey (same as a Galaxie). I rebuilt all the steering and suspension, but was still not happy with the ride or handling. I swapped the cheap replacement shocks I had put in with these Ridetech HQ adjustable shocks, and it made a world of difference compared the other brand new shocks. Corner stability, brake dive, rebound over bumps and dips are all vastly improved. I have the car lowered 1.5″ in front, and it used to hit the bumps stops hard and often. I was considering changing springs again and increasing the sway bar. I don’t need to now.
I don’t believe the cheap parts-store replacement shocks can handle the weight of these cars. I’m 6 clicks from full firm on the front now and the ride is perfect.
